CASE STUDY - Fundraising event - Fulham Palace House & Gardens, London

Blue Sky Tipis were approached by Fulham Palace in London, to provide 2 of our Big Hat Tipis to be pitched in the palace grounds for their new Green Meet event. This event was created in order to raise funds for the palace for the continued maintenance of the palace and grounds, and to also launch their biodiversity and climate change action plan and talking about the work that the team have been putting into practice in the Fulham Palace garden.

Being a historical archaeological site looked after by The Heritage Fund, Blue Sky Tipis were challenged with limited access near to where our Teepees were pitched as vehicles were not permitted to drive over the site due to historical ruins being under the surface of the lawn. In order to protect this heritage site, we used our specialist teepee Hard-Standing-Kit, so that we could preserve the ground and not pitch into the grass where the ruins were situated.

The Green Meet was a outdoor London event, which took place on the May Bank Holiday and included a market, key speakers, food and drink stands and live music.

One of our Big Hat Teepees was used for panel discussions with experts and a sustainable and seasonal cooking demonstration in the walled garden of this London historical palace. The other teepee was used as a key focal point to draw crowds to listen to live music, and also a VIP section for the patrons of Fulham Palace where they could be treated to a buffet.

The event was a huge success, over 2,000 people visited the London palace and gardens generating valuable resource for the continued work the team do to look after this historical site.

 

CASE STUDY -Corporate Christmas Party - Huel

 

We were first approached in Autumn by Huel to help them create a Corporate Christmas Party as special thank you to their employees.  The scope of the event was to provide tipis, all the furniture, decoration, and dance floors as well as heating and power for their Corporate Christmas Party. 

The first area of consideration was locating a venue.  Blue Sky Tipis team were on hand to help with this as we have a dedicated page on our website giving suggestions of fantastic venue options.  From a field, to grounds of a stately home or a cool members club, we have the connections and relationships with great venues to ensure the perfect setting is possible for a Corporate Christmas Party, in our tipis.

After several site visits to various venue options, the team at Huel realised they had the perfect location for the tipis on their doorstep – the carpark of their Head Quarters!  Blue Sky Tipis have specialised knowledge and equipment to enable our tipis to be pitched nearly anywhere, including hard standing.  This was the solution Huel needed and we made it happen for them without a hitch, allowing for the event to go ahead in their Head Quarters car park.

Corporate Christmas Party’s with Blue Sky Tipis are not the norm.  We understand that the finishing touches, decoration and added sparkle make the event from average to a “WOW Event”, which is always our aim.  “Winter Wonderland” was the theme of this Corporate Christmas Party, and what we delivered for our Corporate client.  Our inhouse creative team created a fresh, fragrant seasonal foliage decoration with Christmas pine-cones, wrapped around each tipi pole and two giant Christmas wreaths hanging from the centre of each tipi.  We dusted with the decorations with “snow” for that Winter Wonderland theme whilst our warm-white twinkling fairy lights lighting the space perfectly throughout, created the perfect Christmas setting for their Corporate Christmas Party.

Our experienced team were briefed to create an area for the Corporate Party presentation with enough seats for everyone and ensuring all staff members invited to the party could see the presentation screens which was part of the event.  With our bespoke floor plans we were able to plot this into the space, as well as making sure there was plenty of room for the all-important dancefloor, bar and standing tables throughout.  We even created a chillout area for when the party-goers needed a break from dancing.  Huel own food was served at the Christmas Tipi event which are all vegan, along with vegan food trucks providing hot meals for everyone.  This covered the catering side of things, and the Christmas feast was eaten at our long reclaimed-wooden tables and vintage chairs.  The Blue Sky Tipis rustic reclaimed timber bar was stocked with no-single use plastic cups and bottles of drink and cocktails, which was an important aspect of the Huel Corporate Christmas party.

The Christmas Party guests were kept warm and cosy all night which the professional indirect fan heaters we provided for them, blowing warm air into the tipis thought-out the night.  Even though the Christmas party was held just two weeks before Christmas, the Huel employees were all kept warm, dry, and comfortable in the tipis as they are waterproof and heated.  The power was set up by our team, and made sure the twinkling fairy lights were kept lit all night.  The decoration provided by our in-house creative team was the wow-factor to this Corporate Christmas Party – everyone agreed.

The Huel team all had a fantastic night which started with a company presentation by the CEO of Huel.  This was followed by interactive games with the team, an awards ceremony.  The next part of the night was all about the staff, where they were treated to hot food, flowing cocktails and then a disco where our wood-look dancefloor got very good use!  The party went long into the night and everyone had a fabulous time.

CASE STUDY - Corporate Summer Staff Party - Cinos Communications

We were approached by Cinos Communications to hold their annual Corporate Summer Staff Party. After seeing our Tipis, they knew they wanted host their summer party in them, featuring the legendary Garage DJ’s RatPack. They asked us to help source a great venue for the big bash.

Loud music, fun and freedom were the main aspects Cinos needed from the event venue, so our team at Blue Sky Tipis set about sourcing just the right location based on the client brief.

Cinos were happy with our suggested venue of Spy Games based near Milton Keynes, who have lots of open space, no neighbours and allowed total freedom for the client as well as being in easy travel distance for the guests of the party.

The team at Cinos were also allowed to camp overnight at the site, which was an added bonus so the fun didn’t have to end early as everyone could crash-out when they needed, without having to travel.

We pitched 2 of our Big Hat Tipis in the beautiful green open space at Spy Games, facing out onto the meadow area.

The party went off without a hitch, the staff had a great time and dancing continued into the early hours without having to turn the music down.

FAQs

WHERE CAN I PITCH THE TIPIS?

The short answer to this is - anywhere! We do need a relatively flat surface, and good access but we can talk you through this. You can source your own venue, or we have some great suggested venues for you. From Highgate in London, to the countryside. There are many options of where to pitch the tipis and we can help you with every step. If there isn’t a venue on our list that you fancy, we can source a venue to pitch our tipi tents to your specification. Contact us for a chat.

WHAT ABOUT THE WEATHER?

Our tipis can be heated in the cooler months, and offer excellent shade for the warmer months. They are made from waterproof canvas and we lay a waterproof membrane layer underneath the matting flooring. Due to their structures, our tipi tents are the strongest tipis in the wind, so you are in safe hands. Our tipis can be used all year round, wind, rain and sun are no problem for our teepees!

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO RENT A TIPI?

Tipi tent hire start at £1520 for a single tipi event. This is inclusive of VAT; Fairy lights down each pole; up lighters in the tipi and matting flooring throughout.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TIPI AND A TEPEE?

Historically, all of these structures are a cone-shaped tents made from animal skins draped over wooden poles, but modern-day tipi tents are covered in canvas instead. These structures all can be quickly assembled and dissembled in keeping with nomadic lifestyles of indigenous people of the plains of North America, Northern Europe and Asia. Tipis are very similar to a teepee, but are distinguished by the addition of smoke flaps at the top tipi tent.

HOW DO I DECORATE MY TIPI?

We work with a host of incredible suppliers who can help you with any level of decoration and floristry needed. We also have a team who can style and dress your tipis (fees apply). Our tipis suit many different styles of decoration, from Classic; Rustic; Natural, Moroccan Bedouin, Vintage and Festival! That’s the great thing out tipis, they are a totally flexible space for you to put your own stamp on.

CAN THE TIPIS GO ANYWHERE?

Yes! We always carry out an onsite assessment to make sure, but our tipis can go on soft and hardstanding (carparks etc.).

HOW LONG CAN WE HIRE THEM FOR?

CAN YOU HELP WITH THE EXTRAS?

Absolutely! When you book with us, we will pass you our "Little Blue Book" of key trusted suppliers and suggested locations. OR, you can find your own unique venue and suppliers if you so wish.
